The Week Before the Wedding by Beth Kendrick--Review

SYNOPSIS:

Beth Kendrick sweeps you off your feet with a captivating tale of how even the best-laid plans can falter at the altar.

After enduring a chaotic childhood, Emily McKellips yearns for a drama-free life, complete with a white picket fence. Her dreams are about to come true: She has a stellar career, a gorgeous house, and a fiancé any woman would die for. But as friends and family arrive in picturesque Valentine, Vermont, for her wedding, an uninvited guest shows up.

Ryan is Emily’s first husband from a disastrous starter marriage. They wed on a whim, only to discover that combustible chemistry couldn’t ensure a happily ever after. But Ryan is no longer the headstrong boy she left behind. He’s now a successful film producer who just happens to be scouting a resort in Valentine with his adorable retriever in tow.

As the bridesmaids revolt and the mothers of the bride and groom do battle, Emily is surprised to discover new sides of both her ex and her fiancĂ©. She thought she had life and love all figured out, but the next seven days might change her mind—and her heart.

From My Perspective:

I love a good clean romance.   There just aren't that many of them out there these days.  Kendrick's tale was told with bits of humor and bits of wisdom as she wrote the romantic story of Emily McKellips and her "mature" love for Grant Cardin who is a surgeon.  One week before she is to wed into the Cardin family, Emily expects to spend the week with her husband to be wrapping up last minute wedding preparations, but you know how it is with the best laid plans?   Her colorful mother and step sister come to embarrass poor Emily and one of them made plans of betrayal with her ex-husband, the hunk, Ryan Lassiter.    He arrives in Valentine, Vermont to try and entice her away from the big plans she has in seven days.

It is a well written story and a lot of fun to read.   I found myself chuckling throughout the book at the quirky characters we were introduced to.   Characters were well developed and served their purposes well.  I rate this a 4 WINK read!   Most enjoyable and who can't enjoy a book that includes a dog named Ripley?

Enjoy!
